X8 uses proprietary FPGA technology and supports music up to PCM768 / DSD512 (USB). A bit unique with the X8 is that Aune has prepared so that you can easily change the Op-Amp to change the sound character,
then there are seven filter modes to choose from. The X8 is a DAC that focuses solely on sound quality.

Fixed and variable output
Bring your active speakers to life - the X8 has a built-in preamp and can be connected directly to a pair of active speakers. It also has an audio output that is not controllable, which connects directly to hi-fi equipment when running solely as a DAC.
Interchangeable Op-Amps
Aune has made it easy to change the Op-Amp, you will find it under the unit behind a small hatch. Then the tool that comes with it is used to lift out the existing one and mount the new Op-Amp. It comes with an extra Op-Amp (NE5532).

New power supply
The X8 now ships with a new power supply from Mean Well, who make very nice switched power supplies. For example. so their psues are used together with NuPrime's CDP-9.

For return approval, the item must be returned in new condition and in the original packaging.
Regarding speakers, be aware that speakers may need a long recording time to come into their own. After a couple of hours you can usually get a taste of what to expect, but a speaker deserves 100h+ before serious listening. The speakers we sell with ribbon tweeters need several hundred hours before they start to sing. So feel free to leave the speakers on around the clock so you can quickly accumulate hours.
