Sparkos Labs SS3601 Single Discrete Op-Amp
SS3601 is a discrete single op-amp in a DIP8 package that directly replaces most standard 8-pin IC op-amps in their sockets. If you want to upgrade your DAC, headphone amplifier, or preamp, this offers an easy plug-and-play replacement that delivers a noticeable improvement in sound quality.
The SS3601 was designed for maximum transparency, following the principle of "a straight wire with gain." The entire design is discrete, with Class A bias, resulting in higher open-loop gain, lower noise, and more current than a comparable IC. You’ll hear this as better detail retrieval, a deeper soundstage, and more natural tonality without added coloration.
In most designs, replacement requires no soldering at all. Simply remove the existing IC op-amp from its socket and insert the SS3601 in its place. The gold-plated, machined pins fit firmly and securely in the socket.
