NuPrime IDA-8
NuPrime's hybrid amplification technology in class A+D provides the substance and warmth of class A amplification and the efficiency and speed of class D technology in an environment with immeasurable noise. The IDA-8's spacious, transparent, dynamic, and luxuriously textured soundstage must be heard to be believed. The NuPrime IDA-8 consists of an integrated amplifier with extremely low noise and a digital-to-analog converter that decodes USB PCM 384 and DSD 256 with the convenience of wireless audio in a small, stylishly designed home stereo component.
- Output power: 100W x 2 @ 8 ohms
- State-of-the-art DAC supporting USB PCM 384 and DSD256, which can also decode DoP format via coaxial and optical inputs
- Advanced step network with thin-film coupled resistors for volume control, with a single resistor in the signal path at all volume settings
- USB extension port for streaming (NuPrime Omnia Stream Mini, WR-2 or BTR-HD for Bluetooth). This is a special port that provides S/PDIF signals and 5V power supply
- NuPrime vibration-free isolation feet
With all stages in a single chassis, the IDA-8 utilizes the shortest possible signal paths to achieve vanishingly low noise and distortion levels, giving the music a background of black velvet.
The IDA-8's low noise level is further complemented by an innovative volume control based on a thin-film resistor that places a single resistor in the signal path for each volume setting. The "Switched resistor" design is implemented with an FPGA chip. Volume changes occur in 99 precise steps of 0.5 dB for each input's individually adjustable volume level. Exact level matching is child's play, as is the user's ability to make comparisons between different music sources.
By using discrete components in NuPrime's ULCAM circuit, the signal can be fine-tuned to reduce noise and deliver maximum power. The NuPrime amplifier circuit improves the traditional class D design by using a self-oscillating circuit to generate pulse-width modulation. The amplifier switches at a frequency of 600 kHz, which is far above the compact disc's sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz. Most class D amplifiers switch at 300 kHz or lower. Additionally, NuPrime's SRC IC chip provides FPGA processing for ultra-low jitter and distortion levels. NuPrime's new linear power supply with a high-efficiency toroidal transformer reduces high-frequency noise and improves low-frequency performance, completing the whole. The damping effect of NuPrime's isolation feet (patent pending) absorbs and interrupts vibrations that degrade sound performance. The overall result is an unmatched transient speed and an almost shocking level of dynamic impact.
IDA-8 achieves THD+N levels (Total Harmonic Distortion + Noise) below 0.005% while reaching system efficiency up to 93%. IDA-8's frequency response up to 50 kHz elevates vocals to emotional experiences, and similarly, the upper registers of instruments mimic the shimmering heights of live performances. IDA-8's features and specifications have few equals.
