NuPrime DAC-9X reference-class with 6.3 mm headphone output intended for professional studio users.
NuPrime DAC-9X has six digital (including 2 x IIS/DSD) and one analog stereo input, RCA stereo and XLR balanced outputs, as well as decoding capability for PCM 384K, DSD256, and MQA.
It is a reference-class DAC designed for professional studio users and audiophiles. The DAC-9X also has a stereo headphone output with a 6.3mm standard.

The preamplifier section
To meet the demands of customers who want to eliminate extra components in their system, a preamplifier capable of driving the power amplifier is an important part of the design.
The DAC-9X's advanced preamplifier includes the following features:

  • Analog volume control using a low-noise, low-distortion resistor ladder similar to a network of switched resistors.
  • Digitally controlled dual-mono analog shunt-to-ground volume control provides zero additional noise or distortion.
  • Individually adjustable volume on each input for precise matching of source level.

The heart
As the heart of a sound system, the DAC-9X supports a wide range of inputs and formats. Dual ESS Technology 32-bit audio DAC ESS9028Q2M decodes left and right channels independently, improving channel separation and reducing overall noise. Professional Vishay film MELF resistors provide excellent sound quality.

Power circuit
AC hum is kept to a minimum by using a low-noise power supply with vibration-damping treatment. The rest of the built-in power circuit is also designed to minimize noise.

Built-in MQA decoding
The DAC-9X includes MQA technology, allowing you to play MQA audio files and reproduce the sound from the original master recording. The LED on the front panel lights green or blue to indicate that the device is decoding and playing an MQA stream or file, ensuring the sound is identical to the source material. It lights blue to indicate playback of an MQA Studio file, which has either been approved in the studio by the artist/producer or verified by the copyright holder. The DAC-9X LED lights magenta to indicate the device is rendering an MQA stream or file. This provides the final resolution of the MQA file.   • NuPrime SRC IC chip provides DSP processing where input signals are upsampled to megahertz before being downconverted to the desired sampling frequency with ultra-low jitter and distortion.
  • USB port for Bluetooth receiver and music streamer
  • Complete microprocessor control with retained memory.
  • Supports DSD native playback with ASIO2.1 and the DoP method.
  • JFETs with extremely low noise in the input stage for the lowest possible noise floor.

  • NuPrime has defined a USB Type A port to transport S/PDIF data and 5 V power for connection to an external wireless audio receiver using just a standard USB cable. NuPrime Omnia WR-2, BTR-HD, Stream Mini, and Stream Mini DAC wireless receivers have a micro-USB port compatible with this specification. This allows a standard USB-A to micro-USB cable to be used for powering the receiver as well as for wireless audio data transmission in S/PDIF format.
