For two years, Supra worked to develop the ultimate speaker cable, resulting in the Sword Excalibur.

The aim was to compromise on nothing: everything should be the best while still being reasonably priced and, naturally, manufactured in Sweden. Bifilar-wound Litz conductors, PE insulation, twisted and shielded for minimal interference, a CNC-milled cable splitter with ground connection, XL-Annorum ground conductor, and solid copper contacts with rhodium plating.

The crimp contacts were specially developed for the Excalibur. The conductor is screwed into the crimp body (similar to an F-connector) for maximum bending strength. The stripped Litz wires are then machine-crimped for a perfect, airtight cable connection. The contact body has an M6 connection, enabling optional connection with rhodium-plated spades or banana plugs. The ground connection with an XL-Annorum conductor is 30 cm as standard and is also fitted with specially adapted, rhodium-plated Combicon contacts.

Supra has previously stated, without modesty, that the standard Sword is one of the best cables available, regardless of price or manufacturer. Sword Excalibur takes this several steps further toward near-total transparency, still the only word that correctly describes this patented “high-end” speaker cable.

The secret lies in its construction with bifilar-wound Litz conductors. The cable consists of 24 separately insulated strands per conductor (two conductors per cable), with 12 wound clockwise in a spiral and the remaining 12 counterclockwise. Through this ingenious orientation, the two conductor pairs operate in what is known as “magnetic cancellation”; in other words, the counter-wound strands cancel out each other’s inductance (magnetic effect).

Another advantage is that the skin effect is minimized, meaning the tendency of current (the signal) at high frequencies to travel closer to the surface of the strands. Just as importantly, the separate routing of each conductor completely stops the spontaneous current jumps between the strands that cause time-shifting effects. For you as a customer, this means a cable that does not dampen the music’s fast transients: a cymbal sounds as a cymbal should, as does the attack of a grand piano, and the superior timing contributes to a three-dimensional soundstage that, in a correctly set-up Hi-Fi system, is remarkably faithful to the original recording being played.

Something normal in high-quality music recordings that are not compressed in the same way as pop and hit music made for radio and streaming is that each instrument and voice phrases (emphasizes) different parts of the music. This is barely audible on basic equipment connected with the supplied, inferior cables. But even with the same equipment, upgrading the cabling produces an audible improvement in sound quality. If you have a high-end Hi-Fi system, we would argue that the Sword should be considered just as relevant to your system’s performance as any of its other components. Do not replace, for example, your speakers until you have tried a demo unit of the Supra Sword Excalibur from your local dealer. Based on feedback from our skilled retailers, customers usually return thoroughly surprised. Patented cable construction, manufactured in Ljungskile, Sweden!

Sword is sold only terminated. Why? Due to its special construction, the connection process is critical (in other words, not something to do yourself!). The termination is made using heavy-duty contact crimping in an oxygen-tight process, so the materials join together in a way that closely resembles welding. The cable is supplied in a black wooden box. Termination is with both spade and banana Supra rhodium-plated CombiCon contacts. Both banana and spade connectors are included, so you are not limited in future upgrades to your electronics or speakers.
