Aune AR5000 MK2 - Headphones
Aune AR5000 MK2 are a pair of open-back, over-ear headphones developed from their predecessor, the AR5000. Both the driver and the acoustic design have been refined to deliver even more extended highs, deeper bass, and a seamless transition across the entire frequency range. The result is a natural, balanced, and lively presentation with very low distortion—without requiring a powerful amplifier.
At the heart of the headphones is a 50 mm open-back dynamic driver with Aune’s MLD (Multi-Layer Distributed) diaphragm. The diaphragm balances stiffness and damping, suppressing the breakup modes that can otherwise easily occur in large diaphragms. For the MK2, the diaphragm material and surface treatment have been refined for clearer and more extended highs with natural airiness. A further-developed airflow design and magnet system increase the diaphragm’s linearity and excursion, allowing the bass to reach deeper and sound fuller without sacrificing either speed or layering.
The characteristic angled driver panel and angled ear pads create a spacious soundstage with clear depth and height, positioning instruments and voices precisely. With a 28-ohm impedance, the headphones are easy to drive directly from a phone, computer, or portable DAC—and they deliver noticeably greater sonic performance when connected to a better stationary setup.
Comfort is first-class: breathable acoustic memory foam that fully surrounds the ear, a fully metal adjustable headband, and low weight make long listening sessions effortless. The cable is a 1.5 m OFC cable with interchangeable connectors for 3.5 mm unbalanced, 6.35 mm unbalanced, and 4.4 mm balanced connections—robust and flexible, from mobile devices to stationary systems.
