Advance Paris XL500 is based on three completely separate volumes, each independently supporting bass, midrange, and treble. These volumes are offset on the same vertical plane to maintain correct time phase.

With its design where the volumes are offset, the integration of phase correction circuits in the filtering is avoided. Furthermore, by isolating each speaker in an independent box, the transfer of vibrations from one speaker to another is nonexistent. The sound reproduction remains clear at all frequencies.

Manufacturing such a speaker requires careful production and a selection of raw materials that only a few cabinetmakers can handle. Composed of structural panels of wood powder bound with synthetic binder, these are characterized by homogeneity in the 3 dimensions and provide superior acoustic performance compared to traditional solutions. Finally, each cabinet undergoes a careful individual tightness check. For acoustic damping, damping material specially developed to effectively treat standing waves is used. 

The speakers

The speakers in the XL-500 have been specifically developed to meet the strict specifications required. The 12"/307 mm woofer is equipped with a 49.5 mm voice coil that provides a magnetic field of 1.8 to 2T allowing dynamics and speed adapted to all types of music. The drivers have a high-density cone made of linen paper protected by a protective film, thus achieving the requirement for lightness and stiffness.

The high-frequency reproduction is provided by a powerful ribbon tweeter that delivers detailed treble reproduction without any harshness. Transparency and clarity are the focus.

Crossover filter

Advance Paris has developed an exact and rigorous filtering technique that respects the electrical and acoustic phase. The choice of the best components, air chokes, polypropylene capacitors, precision ceramic resistors, non-radiating placement of components, ideal crossover frequencies.
